On various occasions throughout the school year, the bell schedule is adjusted to allow for special events scheduled that day. Click the links below to view the different bell schedules used during the year.
During the academic year, the normal day’s bell schedule starts at 7:30am and comprises eight 50-minute class periods separated by 5-minute passing periods. Classes are held Monday through Friday, except on specified holidays and faculty institute days.
During summer school, classes are held Monday through Thursday, from 7:15am to 12:20pm, generally with a thirty-minute break toward the middle of the school day.
Several times a year, time is set aside at the start of the day for faculty in-services. On these teacher institute days, classes may start or end at a different time than usual. On late start days, classes begin at 8:50am. On early dismissal days, classes end at 11:50am. On both types of institute day, students still attend all eight periods, but the length of each period is somewhat abbreviated.

Final exams are given at the end of each semester. Since the exams typically require more time than a 50-minute class period allows, periods during finals are lengthened to 90 minutes and split over three days. Students are required to attend periods for which they have final exams, but they do not need to attend school during free periods.

Finals Day 2 (Periods 2, 4, & 8)

There are several reasons for there to be no classes on a weekday, including all-day teacher institutes, specified holidays, and designated non-attendance days. Classes may also be cancelled on short notice under the threat of severe weather (such as heavy snow or extreme cold) or some other community emergency.
Sometimes the school will have a student assembly at the end of the day to celebrate a special event or acknowledge an outstanding student achievement. The school day still starts and ends at the same times as on a normal day, but the class periods on these days are shortened to accommodate the assembly.
